Medical training: our courses

First Person on Scene Basic: during ten hours of training over two days we teach the basic life-saving skills required to cope with a medical or trauma emergency when a paramedic is 20 minutes away.

First Person on Scene Intermediate: this four-day course offers 30 hours of training over three days. Building on the Basic course, it delivers training to the same level as the NHS first responder scheme and is designed to provide life-saving support when a paramedic is 45 minutes away.

First Aid Rural Medicine (FARMTM) Level 3 Advanced BTEC (subject to approval): rural and farm-based activities carry particular risks in the event of an accident, injury or medical emergency.

Equipment can pose safety hazards and isolated locations, poor communication and potentially difficult terrain means that medical help can be hours away. This five-day course includes first person on scene life support skills as well as issues relevant to rural areas, such as search and rescue and disaster scenarios caused by adverse weather conditions or biological hazards.

Mechanism of Injury Level 3 Advanced BTEC (subject to approval): we have developed this customised three-day course particularly for people working in the insurance industry in managing and assessing personal injury claims, although it is also appropriate for health and safety managers.

The course explores the body’s anatomy and physiology to teach skills in identifying or “mapping” the way in which injuries are sustained. Delegates will enhance their understanding of what has occurred and whether an injury could be sustained in the way it is claimed.

A large part of the course focuses on the reconstruction of major road traffic accidents and workplace incidents and requires students to extricate casualties using a variety of cutting tools and contemporary extrication techniques. The course also includes a review of new car technology.

Mechanism of Injury workshop: we have condensed our three-day Mechanism of Injury course into a two-hour worskhop, which we deliver free to existing clients’ claims departments.
